  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes or pepperoni slices cut into stars
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into small star shapes
  • 1 package whole-wheat pretzel sticks
  • 2 cups assorted fruits strawberries, grapes, blueberries, pineapple chunks
  • 2 cups assorted vegetables cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, baby carrots
  • 1 cup yogurt-based dip or hummus
  • 1 pound large strawberries, washed and dried
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows or whipped cream for garnish

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Rolling pin
  • Pizza cutter or sharp knife
  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer or whisk
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Piping bag or plastic bag (optional)
  • Serving platters and bowls

Method

  1. For the Christmas Tree Pizzas: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out pizza dough on the prepared sheet. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into several triangle shapes to resemble Christmas trees.
  3. Let children spread pizza sauce on each triangle, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  4. Decorate trees with green bell pepper strips as garland, cherry tomato or pepperoni stars as ornaments, and press a yellow pepper star at the top of each tree.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  6. For the Fruit & Veggie Sleighs: Arrange pretzel sticks, washed and cut fruits, and vegetables on a large platter. Place dips in small bowls. Let children assemble their own 'sleighs' by skewering items on pretzel sticks.
  7. For the Santa Hat Strawberries: Slice the stem end off each strawberry to create a flat base. Then slice off the tip to form the hat shape.
  8. In a bowl, beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  9. Apply a thick ring of the cream cheese mixture around the base of each strawberry to form the hat band.
  10. Top each strawberry with a small dollop of whipped cream or a mini marshmallow to create the pom-pom. Chill in refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

Make-Ahead Tips: The cream cheese frosting for strawberries can be made 2 days in advance. Wash and cut all fruits and vegetables the night before and store in airtight containers. Set up DIY stations for pizza decorating and sleigh assembly to keep kids entertained. For safety, always ask about allergies and label dishes containing common allergens. Cut grapes and cherry tomatoes in half lengthwise for younger children to prevent choking. For drinks, serve a festive 'Reindeer Punch' made with cranberry juice, a splash of orange juice, and sparkling water.
