  • Sliced turkey, ham, or cheese for filling
  • Veggies for decorating: cherry tomato halves, cucumber slices, olive slices, bell pepper strips, pea pods
  • 3-4 stalks celery, cut into 3-inch logs
  • 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter, sunflower seed butter, or cream cheese
  • 2-3 tablespoons raisins or dried cranberries
  • 1 cup baby carrots
  • 1 cup sugar snap peas
  • 1 cup ranch dressing or simple guacamole for dipping

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Oven broiler/grill
  • Mixing bowls
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Wooden skewers (blunt-ended)
  • Serving platters
  • Small bowls for dips and toppings

Method

  1. The Day Before: Shop for all ingredients. Wash and chop fruits and vegetables for skewers and wraps. Store in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator.
  2. 2-3 Hours Before: Prepare any dips (yogurt-honey, ranch, guacamole) and store covered in the fridge. Assemble the 'Ants on a Log' by filling celery logs with spread and topping with raisins. Keep on a tray under a damp paper towel.
  3. 1 Hour Before Party: Assemble the Rainbow Skewers by threading fruits in rainbow order onto blunt skewers. Assemble Silly Face Sandwich Wraps by spreading a tortilla with cream cheese, adding filling, folding into a square pocket, and decorating with veggie faces. Set up the Mini Pizza Bar station with all toppings in small bowls.
  4. 30 Minutes Before (or as guests arrive): Preheat oven broiler to medium-high. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Let guests or host assemble mini pizzas on split English muffins: sauce, cheese, then toppings. Broil for 3-5 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool for a minute before serving.
  5. Arrange all snacks on platters. Place dips in bowls in the center of their respective stations. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Label dips and snacks containing common allergens like nuts or dairy. For a nut-free option, use sunflower seed butter. Keep perishable items cool with ice packs under platters. Use a small slow cooker on 'warm' to keep hot items like pizza bites heated. Embrace DIY stations for interactive fun. All items should be bite-sized for little hands. Customize with themed shapes using cookie cutters.
